METRO Pakistan is hiring a Department Manager to run the fresh fruits and vegetables department at its Faisalabad store. The role covers everything from ordering and quality checks to pricing, displays and leading the department team. It suits an experienced retail professional who knows fresh produce, cares about quality and freshness, and can keep a busy department stocked, clean and profitable. The position reports to the Customer Experience Manager and works closely with the store team.
What we're looking for:
- Graduation or equivalent degree
- 4 to 6 years of relevant experience, preferably in fresh produce or grocery retail
- Knowledge of fresh produce handling, quality control and cold storage
- Experience leading and training a store team
- Understanding of food safety and hygiene practices
- Ability to manage stock levels, ordering and department budgets
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
- Run the fruits and vegetables department day to day, keeping it well stocked, clean and attractive
- Check quality, freshness and grading of produce at receiving and through the day
- Order stock based on sales trends and seasons so the department avoids shortages and waste
- Keep pricing, labelling and displays correct to company standards
- Lead the team of store associates, assign duties and train staff on merchandising and shelf management
- Control wastage, shrinkage and markdowns and report department performance
- Make sure the department is fully ready before store opening, including overnight preparation work
