Salary: PKR Negotiable
The Express Tribune, one of Pakistan's leading English-language daily newspapers, is hiring a Sub Editor for its Entertainment Desk in Karachi. The role covers celebrities, films, music and pop culture, and involves sub-editing stories and writing copy with accuracy and flair. It is a full-time, on-site position in the Karachi newsroom, and fresh graduates with strong writing skills are encouraged to apply. This is a desk role for someone who follows entertainment closely and enjoys shaping stories for readers.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Mass Communication or a related field
- Excellent written English and strong editing and proofreading skills
- A keen interest in entertainment, films, music and pop culture
- Good awareness of local and international entertainment trends
- A sharp eye for detail and accuracy under deadline
- Ability to work on site in Karachi as part of a newsroom team
Key Responsibilities & Deliverables:
- Sub-edit entertainment stories for the desk, covering celebrities, films, music and pop culture
- Write and edit copy to a high standard of accuracy, grammar and style
- Follow local and international entertainment trends and spot stories worth covering
- Check facts, names and details in copy before it goes to publication
- Work with reporters and desk colleagues to keep the entertainment pages fresh and timely
- Help maintain the desk's tone and quality across print and digital formats
